Belgrade news 5

Although the most important European competition ended in Belgrade I managed to complete my reports only now due to the long queu on the Serbian-Hungarian border on Saturday and the slleep I needed on Sunday.

On Saturday the first Hungarian in action was Szebi in the semi finals of the Open Men. He has qualified into the finals No1 from his heat and also with the best overall score, so he was the last to start his final runs. But let's not go forward so fast, because right after the Open Men's semi finals it was time for the Junior Ladies' finals.

It was my turn as I have qualified first from the LCQ and took off second in the finals. I could present my first pass perfectly, done all I could. The other riders' first runs were the fight of different tactics, and some of my opponents failed to complete their first runs. To everyone's greatest regret Sophie Cordery has hurt her knee again by landing a front flip, so she had to retire from the contest. We all hope that her injury did not turn out as serious as it looked. We are waiting you back on the water Sophie soon!

In the second runs everybody has done their best so the order was set as expected:
1. Tor Young - GB (61,67)
2. Chloe Gouldie - GB (58,67)
3. Anna-Laura Brabänder - D (57,00)
4. Anne Freyer - D (54,00)
5. Körmendi PeBi Petra [ÉN] - H (41,67)
6. Sophie Coredery - GB (26,00)

Ági who did not make it to the finals finished eighth at her first ever Europeans.

The Open Men finals, the most important for us hungarians and also the most spectacular event for everybody started at three PM when the eight best riders of the king-catergory took off for their final two runs. Szebi who was in his first ever Open Men European Championships finals qualified first, so he was the last one in the dock. The riders were close to all in even in their first runs with little tactics. Even better and even difficult tricks followed each other from everybody. Szebi has performed perfect and solid runs just as if he had arrived for an eveyday training or a session with the friends around.

The results really favoured us and Szebi has became bronze medallist in the Open Men category. Here are the details:

1. Lior Sofer - ISR (81,67)
2. Mike Kettelapper - NED (70,00)
3. Szóláth SZEBI Szebasztián - H (69,35)
4. Efi Levi - ISR (68,83)
5. Steffen Vollert - D (66,67)
6. Rocco van Straten - NED (64,33)
7. Rene Konrad - D (58,00)
8. Daniel FETZY Fetz - A (45,33)

All in one we had a great Europeans with a nice performance of the Hungarian riders. Unfortunately we were only a few, but I am sure every single of us has done the best and represent the Hungarian wakeboard community honorably at the most inpoirtant competition of the season in Europe.

And last but not least thanks to: Gyuri - OMSZK & Hyperlite, Lackó - ION Essentials, Felix - Felixpromotion, Ede - Protest, Jani - Spy Optic, and my parrents and family.
